Engineering that solves the hard problems

Some product challenges have straightforward solutions. Others require an engineer who has been in the middle of a failing prototype at 11 PM and knows what to look for. We have a lot of those.

Gyre9 offers mechanical, electrical, and software engineering as part of a fully integrated product development practice. Our engineers are not siloed into specialties that never talk to each other. They work alongside designers, quality staff, and the manufacturing floor daily. That integration is what lets us move quickly and catch the issues that usually wait until production to surface.

We have worked on products across medical devices, consumer electronics, industrial equipment, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The range of problems we have encountered means we come to most challenges with a relevant reference point.

Mechanical engineering

  • Sourcing and supplier evaluation

  • Design for manufacturing (DFM) analysis

  • BOM development and cost analysis

  • Structural and thermal analysis

  • Prototype build and iterative testing

  • Production documentation and tolerancing

Electrical engineering

  • Circuit design and schematic development

  • PCB design, layout, and analysis

  • Power systems and safety circuitry

  • Revenue-grade power metering

  • Cellular and smart controller integration

  • Testing, debugging, and design verification

  • Reverse engineering of existing systems

Software development

  • Embedded software and firmware development

  • Software architecture and systems analysis

  • CI/CD pipeline setup and management

  • Regression testing and quality assurance

  • User interface development for connected products

  • OCPP integration and charging station management system (CSMS) compatibility

EVSE engineering

Gyre9 has particular depth in the electric vehicle supply equipment space. We have designed and engineered Level 2 charging stations from the ground up, certified products to UL 2594, UL 991, FCC, CE, IEC, and other standards, and integrated products with over a dozen charging station management systems. If you are developing an EVSE product and need an engineering partner who has already navigated certification, we know that territory.

Where off-the-shelf makes sense

We do not default to custom engineering when a qualified off-the-shelf component exists and fits the application. Part of good engineering judgment is knowing when to design from scratch and when to integrate an existing solution, reduce NRE cost, and move faster. Our engineers make that call honestly, because it is your budget and timeline on the line.

Tell us what you are trying to build and we will give you a straight answer about how to approach it.
