Design that works in the real world

A product that looks brilliant in a rendering but falls apart in manufacturing is not a good design. Our team knows both sides of that line.

The designers at Gyre9 sit next to the engineers and the manufacturing floor. That proximity is not incidental. It changes how they design. They know what a tool path looks like, what happens to a surface finish at scale, and where a beautiful form will create a costly problem downstream. That knowledge is baked into every concept we develop.

We do not hand off a design and hope engineering figures it out. Design and engineering work together from ideation through production documentation, which is why our clients are rarely surprised when their product costs out in manufacturing.

Product design

We take products from the earliest conceptual sketches through to production-ready documentation. The process includes:

  • Conceptual ideation and direction development

  • Photo-realistic renderings for stakeholder review and investor presentations

  • Color, material, and finish studies

  • Surface modeling and form development

  • Design for manufacturability review at every stage

  • Production documentation and design transfer packages

Graphic design

  • Physical products do not exist in isolation. They live in packaging, in retail environments, on websites, and in the hands of people who are also encountering your brand for the first time. Our graphic design capability covers:

  • Design and layout concepts

  • Brand identity development

  • Logo and corporate identity systems

  • Packaging design and structural development

  • UX and UI design for connected products and companion apps

  • Point of purchase and merchandising display design

Our design philosophy

We design products that are functional, manufacturable, and worth looking at. That last part matters more than it gets credit for in a manufacturing context. Products that users find visually compelling get more attention, more care, and more word-of-mouth. We take aesthetics seriously because our clients' customers do.

That said, beauty without function is decoration, and decoration that drives up cost or creates quality problems is just a liability. Every design decision we make gets pressure-tested against what it costs to produce and how it will perform over a product lifetime.

Connected to manufacturing

Because design and manufacturing happen under the same roof at Gyre9, our designers can verify decisions against real production constraints quickly. If a geometry creates a challenge in tooling, we know it before it becomes an expensive revision. If a material choice affects lead time or cost, we catch it during design, not after the purchase order is placed.

If you have a product concept, even a rough one, we can build a design program around it.

Call us at (203) 702-4010 or send a note to info@gyre9.com. We are in Southbury, CT, and happy to meet in person.
